Bjorn Runquist

On the Way to Burnt HeadBjorn Runquist will teach a three day workshop “Painting Plein-Air: In and Out of the Studio.” The workshop will be an introduction to the basics and will focus on the dynamics of building a painting, both as plein-air exercise and as a studio painting. Particular emphasis will be on capturing light and its use as a compositional element. For the last 30 years Bjorn Runquist has made his home in Connecticut and Clark Island, Maine. He has been painting for 35 years in a variety of mediums and began showing in galleries in the early ‘80’s. Since then he has shown widely in galleries on the East Coast and has been teaching painting workshops for the past 10 years. He is currently represented by the Morrison Gallery in Kent, CT; Landing Gallery in Rockland, ME; Gleason Fine Art in Boothbay and Portland, ME; and Horton Hayes in Charleston, SC. He has shown at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT; the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, ME; and the Allan Stone Gallery in New York.
