Karen O'Neil

PlumKaren O'Neil will be teaching a three day Oil Pastel Workshop this summer. Ms. O’Neil has been an instructor of painting classes and workshops at the Art Students League of New York, Art Academy of Westchester, and the Woodstock School of Art. Recently her work has been included in the Professional Artists League Show at the Salmugundi Club in NYC, and Blossom II, at the Naples Museum of Art. Ms. O’Neil’s work is in many corporate and private collections throughout the world. A graduate of Massachusetts College of Art, Ms. O’Neil studied in Provincetown with Henry Hensche and also at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

This workshop is designed to maximize creative painting time by exploring the use of oil pastel. These brilliant portable pastels are excellent for sketching, and can yield exciting color possibilities. Color mixing, building form with rich layers of color, and producing small, energetic paintings will be the goal of each morning and afternoon. Working both in the studio, and in the landscape, participants can enjoy the spontaneity of oil pastel, and gain insight on new ways to use color relationships. No solvents will be needed. The workshop will begin with an oil pastel demonstration and information session. Individual instruction will be given at all skill levels.
